Brava for arcades

Prepaid arcade cards in the wallet. Reload reminders on the lock screen.

India's family entertainment centre boom is real and accelerating. Timezone runs arcade-and-bowling combos in malls across Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Nashik, Mumbai. Smaaash mixes VR rides, bowling, and arcade across 12 centres. Funky Monkeys runs play centres for kids 6 months to 14 years across multiple cities. Over 150 new FEC projects are planned through 2026 in mid-size Indian cities. The category has standardised on prepaid game cards as the cashless currency. Brava puts that prepaid card in Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet, with reload reminders on the lock screen and the "we missed you" geo-fenced ping the moment a player walks past.

The operator reality

India's FEC industry has standardised on prepaid cards. The wallet is the next surface.

The Indian family entertainment centre industry has moved past coins and paper tickets and on to RFID/QR prepaid cards as the standard cashless currency. Semnox, Intercard, and Embed power most of the back-end. Tier-1 and tier-2 cities have seen a surge in demand for FECs that go beyond movie halls and restaurants. Timezone alone runs arcade and bowling at malls across Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, and beyond. Smaaash and Funky Monkeys add format variety. The natural next step from a laminated RFID card is a wallet pass with the same prepaid balance, the same scan-on-entry, the same multi-location card-roaming, but living on the lock screen instead of in a parent's purse.

01

Prepaid cards are already the FEC standard. Brava upgrades the surface.

Game cards have replaced coins and paper tickets across Indian FECs because the per-machine economics make any other currency unworkable. The card is the right model. The laminated RFID/QR plastic is the wrong surface, because parents lose them, kids forget them, and the card is invisible until the family is at the venue. The wallet pass is the same card, on the lock screen, with the prepaid balance visible at a glance.

02

FEC visits are family-led and weekend-concentrated

The Saturday-afternoon "where do we take the kids" decision is made on a phone, often by a parent, often within driving distance of three options. A wallet pass with "your Timezone card has 850 credits, weekend special on now" surfacing on the lock screen at exactly the moment of decision is the right nudge. WhatsApp blasts at 11 am asking "want to come this weekend" miss the decision window completely.

03

Birthday parties are a high-margin loyalty engine

Birthday-party bookings are one of the highest-margin revenue lines for FECs (Funky Monkeys built much of the brand around this). The customer who books a birthday party is the customer who comes back four to six times a year for casual visits and again for next year's party. A tiered membership card on the wallet, with founding-member birthday-booking priority and discounted package rates, is the right loyalty mechanic for this customer.

04

Card roaming across multiple FEC locations drives stickiness

The single biggest loyalty lever in modern FECs is card roaming: the same prepaid card works across all locations of the chain. The wallet pass is naturally suited to this because the pass updates live across locations, the balance is centralised, and the customer never has to remember which physical card they used last time.

What Brava ships

Four mechanics that upgrade the standard FEC card without replacing the back-end.

Indian FECs already run on prepaid cards through Semnox, Intercard, or Embed. The card model is right; the laminated-RFID surface is wrong. Brava upgrades the surface without touching the back-end.

Wallet pass that mirrors your existing prepaid card balance live

The customer tops up at your cashier or self-serve kiosk via your existing FEC checkout. Brava issues a wallet pass with the credits visible on the front ("850 credits remaining"). When the player spends on a machine via your existing Semnox/Intercard/Embed back-end, the lock-screen update fires on the customer's phone the moment your back-end commits the spend. Same data, same source of truth, but visible on the lock screen instead of trapped in a laminated card the kid lost three weeks ago.

Card roaming across all FEC locations, naturally

The single biggest loyalty lever in modern FECs is card roaming: the same prepaid card works across every location of the chain. The wallet pass is structurally suited to this because the pass updates centrally and the balance flows live. The same Brava pass installed at the Forum Bengaluru Timezone works at the Phoenix Mumbai Timezone, with no physical card swap. Family chains see the same data per parent/per child across every visit.

Birthday-party tier as the high-margin loyalty engine

Birthday-party bookings are the highest-margin revenue line in most FECs (Funky Monkeys built much of the brand around this). The customer who books a birthday party is the customer who returns four to six times a year and books another party next year. Brava ships a Bronze/Silver/Gold tier specifically for birthday-party regulars: priority booking slots, package upgrades, founding-member previews of new attractions, all visible on the wallet pass tier face.

Reload-reminder lock-screen push at the smart threshold

The pass auto-fires a reload reminder when the prepaid balance drops below the threshold the parent set. "Your kid's arcade balance is 50 credits, top up to keep playing" lands on the lock screen at exactly the moment the family is deciding whether to leave or stay another hour. The reminder converts because it is contextual; the same WhatsApp at random hours of the day does not.

Every card ships to Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet. See how the wallet layer itself works on wallet loyalty cards.

What we chose against

What we leave to your existing FEC stack, by design.

Semnox, Intercard, and Embed power the back-end of most modern Indian FECs. We chose against duplicating any of their work and built only the customer-facing surface they all leave on the table.

No FEC management replacement

Machine-by-machine billing, RFID card-roaming back-end, token-redemption counters, real-time game tracking, inventory, operations dashboard: all owned by Semnox, Intercard, or Embed. They integrate directly with the machines and they are good at it. Brava plugs in as the wallet-native customer-facing pass + lock-screen + geo-fence layer alongside.

No branded FEC app

Almost no Indian family is going to install your FEC app to check their kid's arcade balance once a quarter. The install funnel is a death zone for FECs specifically because the visit cycle is monthly to quarterly. The wallet pass is the install-free alternative: it lives on the same lock screen the parent already opens hundreds of times a day, with no app to maintain.

No WhatsApp / SMS reload-reminder spam

Most FEC chains default to WhatsApp + SMS for reload reminders and weekend specials. Parents archive the messages instantly. Brava's geo-fenced lock-screen reminder fires when the family is within 100 metres of the mall anyway, which is the right moment for the nudge and costs zero per send.

No phone-number capture at the cashier

Asking a parent for her phone number at the cashier while three kids pull at her sleeve is data capture at exactly the worst moment. Brava replaces it with a one-tap wallet install: parent holds up her phone, cashier scans the QR sticker on the counter, the prepaid card pass installs.

Common questions

What arcades operators ask first.

Can the same Brava arcade pass roam across multiple FEC locations of my chain?

Yes, and this is the most-cited reason FEC chains pick Brava. The pass is issued under the parent business profile; balance, milestones, and tier benefits flow centrally. A family that tops up at the Phoenix Mumbai Timezone uses the same pass at the Forum Bengaluru Timezone with no swap. The lock-screen update fires consistently across locations, and your operations dashboard sees one customer record per family across the entire chain.

How does Brava integrate with Semnox / Intercard / Embed back-ends?

Brava does not require API integration with the FEC management back-end. Your Semnox/Intercard/Embed system continues to manage machine billing, token redemption, and real-time game tracking. Brava sits on the customer-facing surface: the pass shows the balance the back-end reports, the staff app scans the pass on entry to log the visit, and the geo-fence fires from the wallet OS. The two systems run in parallel; the only operational change is that the cashier scans the wallet pass instead of swiping a laminated card.

Can I run a tiered birthday-party membership card alongside the prepaid arcade card?

Yes. An FEC can run a prepaid arcade card AND a tiered birthday-party membership AND a kids-club founding-member pass under one business profile. The prepaid card shows credits; the birthday-party membership shows tier benefits (Bronze 5 percent off bowling, Gold free birthday-party slot priority, Platinum founding-member preview of new attractions); the kids-club pass shows milestone unlocks. All three flow into one customer record per family.

What does the reload-reminder lock-screen look like when a parent's balance dips?

The wallet pass updates the front of the pass to show the dipped balance (150 credits remaining, top up to keep your kid playing) and fires a lock-screen update on the parent's next phone unlock. The reminder is contextual and shows up at the moment the family is deciding whether to leave or stay another hour. There is no separate notification to set up; the pass surface itself is the reminder.

How is this different from running a paper punch card for kids' birthday parties?

Paper punch cards work in theory and fail in practice for FEC birthday parties: kids lose them, parents leave them at home, and the card the chain prints does not reflect updated package upgrades or seasonal promotions. The wallet pass is durable: it lives on the parent's lock screen, updates centrally when the chain changes the package, and is impossible for a child to lose. The mechanic is the same; the surface is what changed.
